Equine Vet vacancy at a practice near York.
Salary - £40,000-£60,000
Are you a veterinary surgeon with equine experience and a keen interest in orthopaedics? Do you want to develop your skills with exposure to a thoroughbred racehorse caseload? Are you looking for your next challenge in a supportive, flexible and forward-thinking team?
This is a dedicated equine practice based near York with a vision to become the most highly recommended practice in North Yorkshire. Their experienced and motivated team comprises 5 vets, 2 nurses, 2 nursing assistants, and 3 office-based team members. Their varied ambulatory caseload includes everything from children`s ponies and competition horses to elite racehorses. In addition, they provide veterinary cover at York racecourse and local point-to-points.
They are well equipped with multiple DRs, scanners, scopes, ECSWT and dental systems enabling them to provide a comprehensive ambulatory service.
They are looking for a proactive and capable vet with a keen interest in orthopaedics to help manage and grow this caseload, while also contributing to their diverse ambulatory work. They currently have a great team of experienced, capable and collaborative vets servicing the caseload. Someone who has a keen interest and experience in diagnostic orthopaedics is preferable although not essential as training can be provided. Prior experience with racehorses is beneficial, but not essential - a passion for learning and development is more important.
The rota is flexible and can be tailored to individuals. Half of their OOH is serviced by EquiCall; currently the rota is 1:10. A Friday off follows any weekend on-call duty.
Excluding their new graduate, all their vets hold certificate qualifications as well as other post-graduate degrees, and they would actively encourage and support the successful candidate to further their development in whatever area they desire.
Benefits include 7.2 weeks holiday (inclusive of bank holidays, but not including extra days holiday during Christmas period), £1,750 CPD allowance, plus additional funded BEVA congress attendance, Certificate or other further qualifications supported, Professional fees (RCVS, BVA, ARVS or equivalent) covered, Company vehicle available if required, Mobile phone provided.
