Practice Manager vacancy at an independent practice in SW11.
Annual salary expectations would be £35,000 - £40,000 for FTE.
If using the accommodation £30,000-35,000 for FTE.
The practice manager sadly has made the decision to move out of London at the end of February 2025, which means the practice are looking for a permanent, full time practice manager.
They are a small animal, independent practice in SW London. They are a hard-working and friendly team consisting of three vets and two RVNs (you would make it three RVNs), one SQP and three VCAs nurse/support staff.
Fully equipped practice with-in house MiLab blood machines, IV fluid pumps, digital radiographs, dental radiographs, and ultrasound. They do see some exotics (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets) but experience in this area is not essential.
One vet consults all day, and a second vet does a mixture of consults and surgery. They have three to four procedures/surgeries booked each day. Two RVNs look after the surgery and medical patients, one support staff member is on reception and one in the office answering phone calls/dealing with emails. You would be the fifth staff member doing your duties and floating into other roles when needed.
The current shift pattern is a rotating two-week rota, with one week working 45 hours and the next week working 35 hours. This allows for every second Monday off. The shift pattern consists of opening and closing shifts but covering the hours of 8:30am-6pm each day, with an hour`s lunch break (unpaid). They are flexible with these hours and shift patterns.
It would be great if you were part of the weekend rota doing one Saturday a month 9am-1:30pm, but this is not essential. This shift can be taken as extra pay or time in lieu.
The ideal candidate would have previous veterinary practice management experience, and it would be a bonus if the candidate is a UK RVN.
Accommodation is available. If you wish to have accommodation, then you will be responsible for being on call 1 week on with 1 week off. Monday-Friday only. On call is checking in-patients at 8pm and 10pm. It is not common that they have in-patients, however, they can have in-patients admitted up until 6pm, so you do need to be available on your weeks on. The pet owner is made aware that the checks are only at 8pm and 10pm. If the vet feels the patient requires hospitalisation at a 24-hour practice, they will refer the patient before 6pm.
Accommodation is a large space within the practice, you would have your own bedroom, lounge room, bathroom, and kitchen to yourself. In your kitchen you have a washing machine and dryer that you would share with the other nurse who lives in a studio apartment above your accommodation. All bills including council tax are paid.
Job role would consist of:
Arrange regular visits and maintain contact with industry company representatives
Rota management for nurses and vet
Arrange monthly staff meetings and 1 to 1s

Staff education
