It is very important to them that the team are happy at work and enjoy a good work-life balance, and with their help, they have worked to develop the best rota possible and are continuously working to improve it. Their vets finish at 5.30 pm, and the first on-call rota is just 1 in 5, with a half-day after your night on call and the Friday afternoon off following the weekend worked. Out of the 5 weekends in the rolling rota, you have 3 totally undisturbed weekends, and you can plan your life well in advance. There is always backup available when needed, with a 1 in 5 second on-call.

They are looking for a vet to join their Farm Animal and Equine Team. While you`ll work in both disciplines, they understand that you may have a bias for one area, and they are happy to support your interests. Their caseload is a great mix of family run dairy, pedigree beef and sheep, smallholders, and sports and leisure equine practice.

Their farm and equine department has a rich history, dating back to 1911 when the vets would visit the farms on horseback. This continued after the First World War, with the vets progressing to motorbikes. Today, they are an award-winning, multi-site practice. Their farm and equine department is situated in a stunning barn conversion in a beautiful rural setting.

There is lots of experience within the team of 6 farm & equine and 15 small animal vets, and someone is always on hand to discuss a tricky case or offer advice and support. They have an advanced veterinary practitioner and certificate holders in surgery, medicine, pharmacology, and dentistry, and one of their vets is currently undertaking a master`s in animal behaviour. They also welcomed two experienced equine vets in early 2024 and are in the process of training their very first REVN.

Their large animal vets work out of their fabulous, purpose-built barn conversion, set in the beautiful Lancashire countryside with views of the rolling hills surrounding the practice. They put a lot of thought into the on-site facilities, including their large animal theatre and stables. They are also in the process of setting up an arena for lameness workups. They are constantly investing in high-quality portable diagnostic equipment like their mobile CR x-ray machine, battery-powered ultrasound scanners, modern video endoscopes and diagnostic equipment so that as many procedures as possible can be carried out off-site.
