Surgical vet vacancy at a hospital in Bermuda.
The salary range is BD$90,000 to BD$100,000 base.
They also pay for any additional vacation/sick leave cover and a percentage of emergency fees. This can increase the base by BD$10,000 to BD$15,000 a year.
You must be qualified and meet local licensing requirements.
They will pay for all costs associated in obtaining a work permit and Bermudian professional licensing. In addition, they will pay for 1 return air ticket. They will assist in finding accommodation and transportation. They are happy to carry out interviews by phone, whatsapp, skype etc.
The practice are looking to replace their senior surgical vet.
The candidate would need to be a general well-rounded practitioner but also have experience in more advanced surgeries and orthopaedics (fracture repair/TPLO etc).
As vets are limited on the island, they internally refer complex surgeries to the senior surgical vet as well as receive other more complex cases from other practices on the island. As this position involves GP emergency on call, experience as sole charge emergency cover is necessary.
They are a well-established veterinary practice that offers great general practice care, together with increased expertise in surgery, medicine and anaesthesia. The team includes 4 other vets with a broad range of expertise (one with a certificate in medicine and another with interest in cardiology). They are supported with a Head nurse with a VTS in anaesthesia and certificate in ECC, together with a team of 4 experienced nurses and one veterinary nursing assistant. They provide 24hr care, but the rota offers generous time off.
Facilities include but not limited to:
Wide range of surgical instruments including Apollo TPLO plates, locking osteocentesis plates, MicroAire TPLO sagittal saw & high speed drill and Acculan 4 drill.
Two theatres with separate sterile theatre for clean surgical cases.
Imaging: Digital xray, digital dental xray & Ultrasound.
Extensive Idexx in house laboratory & external labs: Idexx & Histovet (cytology & pathology).
Snyder ICU unit O2 chamber.
Heated dog & cat kennels.
With our head nurse`s increased expertise in anaesthesia, we can provide tailored anaesthetic plans, together with great analgesic options include loco-regional techniques for our surgical cases included orthopaedics.
